She slipped the device into his back pocket. He didn’t even notice. He thought it was just a loving rub on the tush. She had other plans. She told him that she was going to be back in just a minute. Keep having fun, she tells him.

She steps out of the room and puts one ear bud in her left ear and the other ear bud in her friend’s ear. They listen intently.

Dominique and I wait a moment. We don’t want things to be too obvious. Joel continues talking to the girl at the booth. He’s autographing her book. Now is the perfect time. “She’s pretty hot, isn’t she?” Dominique says. Joel’s girlfriend can hear the whole thing outside the room on the wireless recording device. Yet, Joel doesn’t respond much.

“I said, she’s pretty hot, isn’t she?”

Now, it’s my turn. Maybe I can bust him. “She really is gorgeous. You know, she is single.” Joel looks at us like we are completely crazy. There has got to be some way to get him. The girlfriend is waiting in the other room. The other side of the wall. She’s listening to the whole thing. It’s all taking place right there on that devious wireless recording device.

A few minutes later, Joel is standing at my wonderful booth filled with the world’s greatest innovations. He points at this curious silver device sitting on the table. “What’s that?”

“You’re going to get a kick out of this. It is a digital recording device with a wireless mic.”

“Where’s the mic?”

“Here’s the funny part. You’ve been bugged the entire time you’ve been in this room. Check your back pocket. Your girlfriend slipped that into your back pocket when you first came into the room.” Joel Moore reaches into his back pocket and finds this curious silver device only slightly larger than two AAA batteries with an antenna on it. He begins laughing uncontrollably.

It’s almost like a scene out of Punk’d. I really felt like Ashton Kutcher for a moment (minus the ridiculously gorgeous older woman). Everyone in the room joins in on the joke. There was no real concern that he would ever cheat on his girlfriend, but the comedy was in the fact that you can slip a remote microphone into someone’s back pocket without them knowing. Another funny story from the GBK Oscar Charity Event last week. The Spion Wireless Digital Voice Recorder was a great hit with many other celebrities at the booth, but this was by far the most entertaining of the entire event.
