Gadget Universe Military Zoom Binoculars

Powerful ZOOMWhen you’re The Muscleman of Technology (www.mrbicep.com), you are unsurprisingly attracted to larger-than-life items. I love Gadget Universe because that’s precisely what they carry—many giant sized gadgets such as the world’s largest LED clock…not to mention humongous Binoculars.

No, not just any Binoculars, these are practically Military issue with “Super High Power” magnification. You know, the kind of Binoculars that if you wear around your neck, will not only help you develop a fine set of Trapezius muscles, but immediately get you picked up for impersonating a Peeping Tom. I tried to tell my neighbors I’m really into birding. Mr. Morgan said, “Keep the hell away from me with those”.

Make no mistake these Military Zoom Binoculars from Gadget Universe are plenty powerful…and large (approx. 12″ x 9 “) and weigh about 4 pounds. The specs say magnification zoom range between 20 to 140 times closer than the human eye. I really am a birder. In real world terms I would say these Binos are about 50 X 70. That may not seem like high power, BUT IT IS! Standard Binoculars are about 8 X 32 with the first number representing the magnification. The second number represents the diameter of the “Objective Lens” which determines the amount of light passing through your binocular. At 70, these are in fact excellent brightness! Trust me, you will not find Binos in any store with a magnification more than 16 or 20x max range. The Military Zoom Binoculars are particularly well suited for astronomy purposes as well.

The Military Zoom Binoculars are simple to use and set up thanks to the included instruction pamphlet. Also included is a nice case for storage and carrying strap. The adjustment zoom lever is very cool, but I would advise keeping it at the lowest setting and then zoom in to what you are focusing on. The build quality feels secure and solid with an exterior hard rubber coating throughout. There are two things I need to make you aware of. One, at anything but the lowest zoom level you will be hard pressed to keep these babies still—either build up your delts like me, or try to lean the Binos on an object. Second, the field of view is small, so first make sure you initially get the item you’re focusing on at the lowest magnification or you’ll never find it!

I’m having a blast with these Binos since I got them last week. I just have one problem—my wife said, I didn’t know you were into birding…

  1. I just can’t believe that at 140 power a person can hold binoculars steady enough to see anything. I currently have 15X binoculars and can just barely hold it steady enough to see some things, but often have to reduce to about 10X before I can see or discern any detail. So what goes with this 140X and a pic of a lady using it while holding it in her hands?

  2. Hi Are you talking about the model Scion TC243 Military Binoculars, if so can you please compare this to Nikon Action extreme ATB binocular specs with respect to Nitrogen filled lens, lens coating, waterproof, fog proof etc.
