I’m giving up my 15 foot projector

StrongIdea.com is quickly becoming one of my favorite deal a day websites. A few days ago, I ordered a replacement for my 15′ Optoma projector. Like going from a Hummer to a Mini, I had to downsize!

But seriously, the Go Video DVD/TV/Radio/Boombox with 7″ LCD screen that I got from StrongIdea.com is one of the coolest personal media players I’ve ever seen. Can you call it a personal media player? I’m not really sure, it’s not like its as small and compact as the PMP I took to New Zealand last year, but I can plug my handheld PMP into the Go Video. Just take a look at the video…

I don’t think I’ll be hosting 20 guest movie nights with this bad boy, but it will certainly be a great conversation piece for people. The widescreen LCD really gives the system a sleak look. Something I didn’t try was hooking up the Podz speakers I picked up from Brookstone the other day. Not that those speakers would really be necessary, since I don’t think I’d be able to see a 7″ screen from the other side of the room.

If I had kids, this would be in every one of their rooms. It has the coolness factor and is perfect for a small room. Maybe I’ll bring mine into my office. People are always asking me to play dvds, and I don’t have a dvd player on my computer.

  1. Hey Jared… the Optoma projector does look really cool! I’m up for a movie nite! And — I know how busy you were at CES and you might not have been able to get to ever booth- just kidding… it is humanly impossible these days for any one person to see everything at CES- This year it filled the Las Vegas Convention Center, The Sands Convention Center, The Wynn, The Hilton, etc… So part of the cool thing that I get to do is help bring those innovations to all of you who can’t go to CES - or did not get to see it all…

On the subject of projectors… It was the first nite of CES… we jus left Pepcom.com Some say a girls first true love is chocolate… but we jus might have a close runner up! And what might that be? Technology from Microvision… Why? Because they have an ultra-thin, miniature full color projection display that is small enough to fit in your cell phone- (And as small as a thin mint!)

What could you do with this projection display? Take your cell phone for instance…. You could watch a movie on it… Butttttttttttttt the small display on cell phone don’t make it possible for a group to watch… like Pirates of Caribbean… RRRRRRRRRRR! So the truth is—- size does matter… at least when you are viewing a movie.

This radically new viewing experience allows you to project a movie onto any surface, any size… Microvision’s Pico Personal Projector is the ultimate projector for mobile devices. This is not out on the market yet… BUT it will be soon!! So stay tuned to hear the next update from Dr. Nat the TechnoCat News!

Jared- Will you have popcorn at your movie nite?
