Warning: Objects Appear Closer Than They Are
I was visiting someone at one of the hotel properties, so I thought what a great time to test out my new Spion 5.0 Mega Pixel Digital Camera from Gadget Universe. The hotel is situated on, around, and between mountains with some spectacular views to be seen. Although it was a hike to get to the top of the mountain (I decided not to walk it, so I took a cab - yes, the grounds are that big!), once I reached the top I saw why this property is so popular. I took out my Spion binocular camera and started taking pics. I found the unit very easy to use and the instructions are straight-forward. However, I will mention that it is best to go out right away and buy a SD media card and rechargeable batteries. It won’t be long before the alkaline batteries get drained. Also, the 1.5 inch TFT LCD screen is a little bit small, which makes viewing the pictures somewhat difficult. I didn’t know how the photos came out until I popped the media card into my computer. It was nice to be pleasantly surprised. The pictures came out pretty good.
Another thing I noticed, when the camera is turned on it defaults to the lowest pixel setting. If you are like me and prefer to shoot photos on the highest settings, you will need to go in manually every time and change the resolution to your liking.
I have included a picture of a nearby mountain on the property (top of post). It was taken without a tripod and was not touched up at all in Photoshop. As you can see, the mountain appears very close when in fact, it was a good distance away.
Overall, I am very pleased with the product. It can be very useful for many occasions including hiking or sporting events.
