A birder’s eye view…
Many times I like to get the opinion of others… so I asked a couple of bird watchers what they thought of the binoculars… both the Military Zoom Binoculars and the Digital Binocular Camera… these guys are the real thing.. in fact they went bird watching in Sacramento, St. Louis, Missouri and in the Santa Monica Mountains in the Newbury Park, CA! Karen and Steve spotted a large white bird, which they tracked to its nest near the top of a distant, craggy tree. Karen thought the bird might be a White-tailed Kite, given the black on its wings and the “kiting” way it landed on its nest. Because it seemed so large, they questioned the identification. Using the large SPION binoculars helped us to identify it as a Kite (a bird). Once I located it, she finally could zoom in like never before– beyond the reach of my old binoculars. The clarity was terrific. That was their coup for that day.
On another trip, they visited family in St. Louis. Of course both of the binoculars made the trip as Karen’s brother is also a birder, too. He took them to the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers –about 45 minutes from St. Louis. It was a cold, cold day, but the binoculars them forget the cold! They also went to an area of the Katy Trail, a great place to go birding, west of St. Louis. They tracked a Northern Parula by sound for about fifteen minutes before they saw it. Then they spent twenty minutes watching it and got a great good look at it. It flew in later and perched quite near them (may be it wanted to get a look at the binoculars!) And at nite they used them to look at the moon and Jupiter.
Karen thought this was the perfect gift for a bird watcher! So there you have it… a birder’s eye view!
